Malik Bin Dinar Mosque in Kerala lies one of the significant history in the advent of Islam in India. According to the villagers, history sets from long time ago about a king in Kerala who witnessed the miracle of Rasulullah s.a.w., when the prophet s.a.w split the moon into two. The king was astounded by the miracle and sent delegates to look for the prophet that was chosen by Allah. As soon as the news of prophet Muhammad s.a.w. reached the king, he embraced Islam instantaenously. The king then requested that ulamas visit India to teach and spread Islam to the people in India. The delegates sent to spread Islam were led by Malik Bin Dinar. However, Malik Bin Dinar left Kerala once his mission was accomplished.

In Senegal, Sheikh Mahmud visited Mohammad Amin (Mouhamadou Lamine Bara Mbacke), leader of Tarekat Qodiriyyah. Mohammad Amin is the brother of Mahmud Bamba, a well known businessman there. Tarekat Qodiriyyah has been practised for a long time in Senegal attributed to the struggle and perserverence of Sheikh Ahmad Bamba.

During this trip, Sheikh Mahmud also visited Tumbatu Island (an island situated beside Zanzibar Island). Tumbatu is a small island with not much economic progress. However, the Muslim community are devout, loved to perform prayers and recite dzkir regardless of age and gender. Sheikh Mahmud recognised the pious devotion and sufism that was rooted there from long time ago.

Upon arrival, Sheikh Mahmud was well received and ushered by the villagers to the mosque. They were earnestly reciting selawat and dzikr as an act of gratitude to Allah s.w.t. Whilst among themselves, they uttered, "Our leader is here, our leader is here."
